  俺、大手メーカーのエンジニアだが、訳の分からない質問をされたら、
  「質問の意図をご説明頂けますか？」
  と正直に返答するのが良いと思うよ。
  
  仕事はハッタリとかじゃない、結局は。
  相手の意図を正確に把握して、それを満足させる提案をすること。
  仕事は社内外に限らずその繰り返しだ。
  
  だから、訳の解らん質問に対しては、訳がわかる事が先決。
  相手が、「まーいから返答してよ」　とか下らない返しをしてきたら、
  
  「○○の前提でお答えします」
  と前提条件を示して、答えれば良い。
  実際の仕事でもこうするのが正解だ。
  もちろん、相手の心証を害する事無くなｗ
