  「わに」と聞くと皆さんは「クロコダイル」や「アリゲーター」を想像されるでしょう。
  この地方では実は「サメ」のことを言うのです。
  古事記の「因幡の白兎」神話で鮫のことを「和邇（わに）」と記してあり、おそらくそれが語源ではないかと思われます。
  三次地方では昔から「わに」をお刺し身にして食べる習慣があります。
  肉質は脂肪分が無いためサッパリしており、少し特有の臭いがあるため薬味はおろし生姜で食べるのが一般的です。
